The Korea Football Association (KFA) has filed an administrative lawsuit against Chung, claiming that the suspension of Chung Mong-gyu is unfair. As a result, the 55th KFA presidential election is entering a new phase.
The KFA said on Monday that it filed an administrative lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court seeking the cancellation of a specific audit disposition received from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The KFA also filed a request for suspension of execution of the ministry's disposition to the court on June 21.

The ministry has conducted a specific inspection of the KFA since July last year. The KFA has been criticized for 27 cases of illegal activities, including controversy over unfair management that arose in the process of appointing Hong Myung-bo as coach of the Korean national team. Ultimately, when the ministry announced the results of the inspection in November last year, the ministry asked key executives including Chairman Chung to impose severe disciplinary measures beyond suspension of qualifications, but the KFA says it cannot accept the request.

Prior to the latest administrative lawsuit, the KFA filed an objection against the ministry's audit results. However, the ministry rejected the suit on June 2, and indicated to the KFA the deadline for implementing disciplinary action by February 3. After filing an administrative lawsuit, the KFA held a sports fair committee meeting and decided to suspend the decision on whether Chung will be disciplined or not before the ruling because the lawsuit against the culture ministry has begun.

"The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has demanded disciplinary action against nearly 20 working-level officials and executives at the KFA, an organization of about 100 people," a KFA official said. "If there is a vacuum in the administration, it will seriously disrupt the promotion of the association's business. We also want to secure the independence and autonomy of football associations pursued by FIFA."

The suspension of Chung's disciplinary action is expected to have a significant impact on the next presidential election. If Chung received severe disciplinary action beyond the suspension of his qualification as requested by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism within February 3, he would not be allowed to run for the next presidential election. However, there is no legal violation against Chung's candidacy until the court makes a ruling. 먹튀검증

On the other hand, opposition candidates such as Shin Moon-sun, a professor at Myongji University, and former national team coach Huh Jung-moo have always argued that Chung's "fourth term challenge" is absurd, so the controversy over Chung's candidacy is unlikely to fade easily.
